Faith in Action
St. John XXIII actively assists those in need in a variety of ways:
- Metro Catholic Outreach - We donate critical food and household supplies throughout the year in the Cedar Rapids metro area. School supplies are also collected each summer.
- Mary's Meals - This non-profit program helps feed school children in poor areas around the globe so they can concentrate and learn. Our parish supports 601 pupils at Chizungulire Primary School in Malawi.
- Catholic Heart Workcamp - Annual summer service trip for high school students to help the disadvantaged in at-need communities.
- Knights of Columbus tootsie roll and blood drives - Our local KC chapter hosts drives throughout the year. The tootsie roll drive raises money for those with Intellectual Disabilities. The blood drives address the critical need for donations.
- Plus other social concerns and individual parishioner engagement in the community.
